From the slate tablet to the ballpoint pen, there have been no educational technologies that have not been met by resistance from the teaching community, but the need to accept widespread integration of current digital technologies, including but not limited to Web 2.0 tools, coding, touch screen interfaces, and mobile devices, in the classroom has reached a critical mass. It is time for us, as educators, to recognise that the push forward into the digital world is both justified and essential if we intend to properly prepare our students for secondary education, the workforce, and the world at large.
